The Guth-Cheever Wedding

October 2011 – Katie and Edward. Eureka, Illinois

I was in central Illinois during the fall of 2011 when I got a email from Denise, the mother of the bride-to-be. A friend from High School and church youth group, Katie, was getting married soon. Their photographer was their cousin, but due to her academic schedule was suddenly unable to make it to their wedding. They needed a quick back-up plan. Was I interested?

Absolutely!

I’ve known Katie ever since elementary school. I got to know her during lots of middle school sleepovers and youth group outings. Even with the last minute change of plans, Katie and Edward were still so relaxed and easy going about their day. It was great to see Katie again, marrying the man she loves in the church were we both grow up.

The Knapp-Hunt Wedding

May 2011- Alex and Kare Hunt. Litchfield, Illinois

After taking their engagement photos, I was sure my career with photography was over.

Wrong.

A few months later, my best friend from high school, Kare, called me up to ask if I would take their wedding photos.

Pressure.

Luckily for me, my dear friends were very gracious, relaxed, and excited to give me the chance to expand my photography portfolio.

Despite the crazy winds, the day turned out to be a lovely day for a May wedding. It was so much fun working with Alex and Kare and their family and friends. Plus, seeing my dear friend marry such a wonderful man was pretty great too.

I was truly blessed to be a part of this part of their story.

Kare & Alex

Summer 2010- Kare Knapp and Alex Hunt

I was so excited when I found out my best friend from high school was getting married. However, I was even more surprised when Kare asked me if I wanted to take her and Alex’s engagement photos.

What?

At the time, I was the proud owner of a tiny, pocket canon, which was awesome, but definitely a far cry from profession photographer.

After a lot of convincing from Kare, I finally agreed to come out to Kare’s parents’ farm  in central Illinois to conduct my first photo shoot. It was a ton of fun and, moreover, I discovered a hidden love for photography.

I will be forever indebted to this awesome couple – for their laid-back  attitude and their complete trust in me to capture their engagement photos, even though I had no idea what I was doing.
